Academics
Somerville Public Schools provides a rigorous, engaging academic experience that prepares all students for success. Our curriculum is grounded in high standards and research-based practices, building strong foundational skills while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world application.
In core subjects, students follow a clear progression of learning. Mathematics emphasizes understanding and application, while English Language Arts builds strong literacy skills and critical thinking. Science and engineering promote inquiry and hands-on learning, and Social Studies helps students become informed, engaged citizens.
Students also benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including the arts, health and physical education, world languages, and library/media instruction. Social Emotional Learning is integrated throughout, supporting students’ well-being and development. Together, these experiences reflect our commitment to educating the whole child and preparing every student for future success.
